Count forwards from 1-20 and when confident count backwards from 20 -1.

Collect 20 objects from around the home.

Arrange these objects in different ways to make 20. (2 groups of 10, 10 groups of 2, 4 groups of 5, 5 groups of 4)

Make sure each group has the same number of objects in. Write them down as a number sentence e.g. 10+10=20, 2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2=20, 5+5+5+5=20, 4+4+4+4+4=20 


Count forwards from 1-20 then when confident count backwards from 20-1.


Counting in Twos

Listen to the song several times, encouraging them to join in with the counting.

Use numbers 1-20 written out on squares of paper. 

Order these numbers and identify all the twos numbers by counting on 2 every time, pulling them forward to make a new number line. 


Count in twos up to 10, then 20. Use the numberline made from the previous day if necessary. 


Sorting twos and not twos

Using numbers  1-20, turn them over with the numbers facing downwards. Take it in turns to turn over a number and then you have to say 'Is it a twos number? Sort the numbers into twos and not twos.

Order the twos numbers and recap counting in twos.
