The role of the Chair of Governors is to –

  • Work with the Head Teacher to promote and maintain high standards of educational achievement.
  • Ensure that the Governing Body sets a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school.
  • Together with the Governing Body hold the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and for the performance management of staff.
  • Ensure oversight of the financial performance of the school and effective use of the schools resources.

Role outside of School

The Governing Body is made up of people with different skills and backgrounds, but all with a desire for the best possible education and wellbeing for our pupils.

I am retired, having worked in financial and legal services, and in local government. My work ensured that services and advice was offered to people, local organisations and companies.

I am chair Notfast Running Club and also have an allotment in Newark, all of which keeps me happily busy.

Both my children are former pupils of the school, and I live in the local community.
