Welcome to Year 1 and 2 Johnny Duddle Unit!

Welcome to the Johnny Duddle Unit. Our Unit is named after the author we are studying within our first topic ‘Open a Book’. Johnny Duddle writes, and illustrates, some fantastic books for children, hopefully by looking at his work we will find some inspiration for our own writing.

The Unit is made up of 2 mixed Year 1 and 2 classes taught by Miss Miller and Miss Burrows. We will be supported by Miss Coot, Ms Rahman, Mrs Worthington, Mrs Evans, Miss Ross, Mrs Bloszyk and Mrs Hare. 

 

Our time table for a day’s work is designed to maximise learning opportunities. Below is an overview of a typical day:

 

8:50am School Begins with registration and handwriting session and snack

9.10am Brain Break

9:15 Reflection on learning

9:45am Literacy/ Numeracy session 
9:45am - Worship (except Friday when Merit assembly begins at 9:10)

10:30am - Outside structured play
10:45am - Literacy/ Numeracy lesson

11:30 Grammar/Fluency
12:00pm - Lunch

1.00pm Registration
1:05pm - Take 5 breathing 
1:35pm -  Topic lesson

2:30 - phonics 
2:45pm - Playtime
3:00pm - Reading session
3:30pm - School ends
